I just watched the video--don't have time right now to read the above article.
Perhaps this video is a historical document, but I see no history in the making. If anything, the constant stress on "friendship", the "special relationship", the constant exchange of titles "Prime Minister, Mr. President", suggests that these two men are not in agreement at all, or on very few issues.
Obama is incorrect about talking to Iran for the first time--we've talked to Iran before, under Reagan. It was called the Iran-Contra Scandal. The message Obama is sending is this: we will openly talk with Iran, give them a chance to blow it and then move in militarily. Great. Another war.
I found only two things that were relatively significant: Bibi's statement on Arab/Israeli relations in respect to Iran and Obama's insistence that Palestine and Israel come to a two state dialog. Actually, I take that back: I expected Obama to say something to that effect, but I was surprised by Bibi and I wonder why he said that.
Conclusion: Despite all the special friendship rhetoric, this will not be a smooth ride. I do not see Hamas recognizing Israel. And if that is the case, Israel cannot negociate with Hamas. Abbas is useless--why doesn't anyone see that? It is pleasant to see two important political leaders who are both well-spoken and intelligent; 8 years of Bush have lowered my expectations of the intellectual capabilities of world leaders. People may hate Bibi, but he is no fool. But the video felt a bit like a rerun from the 90s.
