this is disgusting..
i expect more from this town and am disappointed that certain people thought that an appropriate way to handle a situation on yom kippur was through a riot.. akko u let me down..

Fron what I understood from Ricardo that the Holy Jewsih New Year is for forgiveness to God on the sins that was made, now I'm not bitching Jews and Arabs here as this is not appropiate but some would like to interprate relegion the way they want not the way God said it. Hfft how disapointing this news is!
You know what Lirun, after I thought of this for a few minutes, I was saying to myself that this was probably a result of being under pressure, over tension, media bashing or just any stupid individual icedent. Becauase people in Acre and Haifa and Jaffa live peacefuly side by side
hey man
it could have been anything.. the incident in itself is clearly a problem but the bigger problem is the fact that one small incident can so easily grow..
gershon baskin is right.. if we enter an identity war we will all lose.. we need to firm up our nationalities first and establish two states.. the next stage willbe to become closer and tighter..
but dont you cant have a boiled egg sandwich before you boil the eggs..even if youplan to eat them together..
you still have to cook them separately..
:)
i dont know what festival has been cancelled http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1027942.html but it sounds sad
come on akko give us some light
i would like to add that i dont like ahmed tibi
http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1027728.html
not only do i disagree with him but he is never conciliatory - always seeks to inflame and make things look worse.. he is pure politics and not a real statesman..
very disappointing - his voters deserve more
i think akko has some serious`problems beyond the interracial concerns if this can happen

it's quite nice this simily you made with the eggs ya lirun..
hmmm i think it's always best to respect holidays of those of other faiths.. always.
buj - i cant describe how much akko has disappointed me.. i have always admired that town..
http://emspeace.blogspot.com/search?q=akko
im really sad about it.. it needs help.. that place is socially struggling..
sorry to hear that bro.. maybe i'm being a bit daft, but why did Akka disappoint you? Is it coz of the noisy arab driver or the roit than ensued? or both?
I have to admit ignorance with regards to Jewish holidays but to me it seems like an over-reaction.. however to a westerner eating in the middle of ramadan it might seem like an over-reaction too.. so it's all relative..
would really value your input Lirun.
PS: also can you please tell me what is bad and what is ok in yom kippur?
are you just supposed to stay at home and pray or are you allowed to leave home but just on foot for example (not car).. coz i remember reading in the past that you sometimes went roller scating or surfing at yom kippur..
i'm a bit confused!
I don't know why you are so surprised Lirun. I have people in my work from another co-existence paradise called Haifa and occasionally these three surprise even me with their attitudes and stories. It's not hard to get the tensions that they have there.
And I don't even mention the South where people are plainly fed up with all this banditry and racket going around. Jaffa may be the only place with some normalcy in this sense. Otherwise, we are all seating on a bomb.
If they were following the rules and going to shul and fasting, they'd be too tired to riot! I just wanted to lay down.
And yes, we should all respect one anothers religious holidays but he's not Jewish so what does it matter if he smokes or listenes to music.
Now if he had a huge stereo system with massive amounts of bass going off in the dead of knight, then that's not cool no matter what day it is.
Lirun is right, there can't be an identity war here. This will just lead to riots over silly things.
Ricardo, you got that right, but I'd like to hear from both sides in Akka how much they hate each other and want to get rid of each other. It's hard to believe that though, those people have been neighbors for 60 years now, it must be something else. I wouldnt know, Im a Palestinian outsider
Outsider? I think there is always room for Ali.
60 years of peace and quiet to this is odd. I think it is something else and this was just the last straw.
Thanks Ricardo, I sure will never give up my right of return to Palestine/Israel or what ever one can name it.
